Derya Bourget, RMT
Derya joins the Brix Wellness family with knowledge and passion in Massage Therapy. She studied at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy where her studies focused on myofascial release, trigger point therapy, neuromuscular therapy, Swedish massage and joint mobilization. Recently she has completed her first two levels of Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage. She will be completing the course this winter where she will have the skills to work with many different pathologies and lymphedemas.
Derya found her passion in Massage Therapy through many years of athletic activities. She was involved in competitive sports growing up which created many muscular strains on her body where she found herself seeking out massage therapy for treatment.
Derya trusts not only in a medical treatment approach but also incorporating a mind, body and soul healing method to achieve a fully balanced treatment. She believes that understanding her patient’s wellness journey will only benefit each person’s individual treatment needs. She also recognizes the importance of incorporating a relaxation aspect into therapeutic treatment because being in a parasymphetic state is where the body and mind do the most amount of healing.
Due to her beliefs in Massage Therapy and the therapeutic benefit that it gives, it only seemed natural that Derya found herself becoming a RMT. She is really excited to meet her new patients and to help them on their individual wellness journeys.
Alicia Harrison, RMT
Alicia Harrison, born and raised in BC, obtained her massage therapy diploma from the 3000 hour program at OVCMT in Vernon. Her passion for massage was driven by a desire to help others. Recognizing stress and chronic pain in those around her, while facing her own migraines, tension headaches and sporting injuries over the years, she realized how important it is to take care of our bodies, remain active and seek alternative health care for optimal balance and performance. After graduating college, she attended the Dr. Vodder School in Victoria, and obtained her full certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) in order to work with a broader spectrum of patients. Alicia returned to the Okanagan and knew that Kelowna was where she wanted to call home and start her massage therapy practice.
Alicia's treatment style is based on Swedish massage, incorporating myofascial, deep tissue and instrument techniques (cupping & IASTM), trigger point release and neuromuscular therapy. Alicia loves working with a varied clientele and welcomes new patients from all walks of life into her practice. Every individual is so unique and that keeps things interesting!
Her goal is to educate clients on postural awareness and uses of hydrotherapy (hot and cold), she also enjoys taking the time to incorporate therapeutic exercises for clients to assist in their own healing.
